POLISH PRESIDENCY OF THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION
Every six months one of the member states of the European Union takes over the Presidency, i.e. presides over the work of the Council of the EU. During this period, the presiding country hosts most of the events that take place in the Union and plays crucial part on all fields of activity of the European Union. It is also responsible for organising EU meetings, directing the Union’s political activity, ensuring the Union’s development, integration and security.
Poland’s Presidency of the Council of the European Union starts on 1 July 2011.
